The Nike Air Sock Racer was designed as a marathon sneaker back in 1986. More than 30 years later Nike has decided to bring it back with a couple of major upgrades. The Nike Air Sock Racer Ultra Flyknit comes with a Flyknit upper that instantly makes it more breathable while also providing a better overall fit. Keeping some of the shoes OG aesthetics, Nike decides to preserve the model’s original buckle closure with a slight change in width (they’re now thicker) this time around. The final upgrade is the sole which comes with a Nike Free pattern on the sides, top-loaded air in the heel and of course and Ultra (lighter/cored out) construction.
